While artificial intelligence (AI) holds the potential to revolutionize aviation, a critical question emerges: Can we establish a certification process that is adaptable and robust enough to ensure safety in the age of agile automation? This presentation embarks on a critical discussion regarding safety assurances for AI-enabled aircraft systems. We explore the intricacies of certifying AI's airworthiness, investigating its current state of the art, and uncovering the challenges and complexities that inevitably arise.
